Slovenian art and culture will captivate audiences as the overarching communication theme for the STB's stories in the next two years. 2023 has already witnessed a dedicated focus on this theme, with several noteworthy activities taking the limelight.

Slovenian art and culture will illuminate 2024 and 2025

In celebration of Slovenian Cultural Day on February 8, 2023, a compelling video was launched, featuring American art historian and author Noah Charney. Through the lens of Charney and top Slovenian artists, the video offers a captivating journey into the rich tapestry of Slovenian culture. From the fiery origins of the Slovenian language with Primož Trubar to the vibrant capital of Ljubljana and the enchanting Kostanjevica na Krki, the exploration unveils the diverse facets of Slovenian cultural heritage.

 

This story set the stage for an exceptional year in Slovenian art and culture, culminating in the prestigious Frankfurt Book Fair, where Slovenia held the esteemed position of Guest of Honour. At the fair, Slovenia showcased its vibrant literary and cultural scene to visitors, literature enthusiasts, and professionals in the literary, publishing, and cultural fields.

The Slovenian language, spoken by a limited number worldwide, carries a millennium-old history, chronicled in the Freising Monuments and immortalized in the manuscripts of Stična. The Protestantism era of Primož Trubar marked its debut in book form. Literary and artistic treasures amassed over the centuries, guarded by libraries, literary events, festivals, memorial houses, rooms, and memorials, along with intriguing literary trails, contribute to the rich cultural tapestry.
