National Information Centre (NIS) - Nurturing the tourist experience

The Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) is commited to continue the realization of the strategies formulated in the preceding year. These strategies lay the essential groundwork for the digital transformation of Slovenian tourism, setting the stage for a future that is both promising and innovative. One of the key milestones in this transformative voyage is the introduction of the National Information Centre (NIS).

National Information Centre (NIS) - Nurturing the tourist experience

This project represents the cornerstone of the Strategy for the 2022-2026 Digital Transformation of Slovenian Tourism. It also serves as the central instrument for not only attaining but also meticulously tracking the objectives outlined in the 2022-2028 Strategy of Slovenian Tourism.

The National Information Centre (NIS) emerges as a one-of-a-kind repository for data and information, where both local and global insights pertaining to tourism are diligently collected and processed. The primary goal is to facilitate a series of preliminary and advanced analyses, which will, in turn, inform data-driven decision-making and significantly enhance the value across all facets of sustainable tourism.

The overarching aim of establishing the NIS is to expedite the green and digital transition, fostering a rejuvenation of the Green Scheme within the framework of Slovenian tourism.

The NIS project is intricately woven into the fabric of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, presenting a dual-phase approach:

  1. The first phase involves the implementation of a cutting-edge digital analytical tool, meticulously designed to gauge the impact of tourism across all premier Slovenian tourist destinations. This tool is pivotal to the sustainable evolution of the tourism sector.
  2. The second phase revolves around monitoring tourist flows within these leading destinations, ultimately determining their carrying capacity and orchestrating geographically distributed development to promote sustainable tourism.

The comprehensive establishment of the centre will unfold in phases, with a projected completion date set for December 31, 2025.
