The event is expected to reach a global audience of around one million via webcasts and engage around 50 million fans through social networks. Through intensive promotional and communication activities, the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) aims to enhance the visibility and reputation of Slovenia, the I Feel Slovenia brand, and Slovenian tourism.

Elevating Slovenia's tourism through international sports events

International sports events present an excellent opportunity to elevate Slovenia's visibility as a tourist destination, particularly for active leisure and athlete preparation. Furthermore, they position the country as a host of prestigious sporting competitions. By leveraging promotional and communication activities, Slovenia taps into the potential of sports tourism, one of the fastest-growing segments in the tourism industry.

EYOF unveils 123 competitions across 11 sports

EYOF will host a total of 123 competitions across 11 sports disciplines, taking place at 13 venues in and around Maribor. The event will see the finest young athletes from 48 European countries compete for 742 awards. Three sports disciplines, including mountain biking, 3-on-3 basketball, and skateboarding, will make their debut in the EYOF competition schedule.

#TeamSlovenia ready for EYOF

#TeamSlovenia will proudly showcase its representatives in all 11 sports disciplines at EYOF, boasting the largest team to date. The national team will be officially introduced to the public two days prior to the festival at Trg svobode in Maribor on Friday, July 21, at 8 p.m. Admission to all sports venues and accompanying events is free, encouraging widespread participation.

Sustainability takes centre stage at EYOF

Sustainability forms an integral part of Slovenian tourism, extending to sports events hosted by the country. EYOF, as a major international sporting event, plays a significant role in promoting sustainable development and raising awareness of its importance. Organizers have adopted 25 sustainable goals to minimize the festival's environmental impact and introduced workshops on social media visibility, informative lectures, and pop-up vintage shops in common areas. Implementing sustainable transportation infrastructure, such as footpaths and cycle paths, further supports their commitment to sustainability. The event also embraces the circular economy, exemplified by the collection of useful packaging materials throughout the preparation period.
