Janja Garnbret makes history in sport climbing
Janja Garnbret, the Olympic, world, and European champion, and the ambassador of Slovenian tourism, will go down in history after securing 40 victories in the Climbing World Cup.

No sport climber before Janja Garnbret had ever accomplished 40 victories in the Climbing World Cup, making her achievement a new milestone in the sport's history. Yet, Garnbret's ambitions reach even higher as she sets her sights on qualifying for the Summer Olympics in Paris and delivering an extraordinary performance for her home fans at the autumn festival of sport climbing in Koper. Following her triumph in the World Cup in Villars, Switzerland, Janja shared her thoughts at a press conference in Ljubljana today.
Earning the title of G.O.A.T.
Janja Garnbret consistently lives up to her nickname, "the greatest of all time" (G.O.A.T.), by continuously surpassing existing records in sport climbing. As the first athlete, male or female, she has achieved an unprecedented 40 victories in the World Cup, and she recently secured her 25th victory in the difficulty discipline.
Unstoppable performance and excitement for the future
Janja's exceptional form following her February injury bodes well for the upcoming match in Koper, scheduled for September 8 and 9 at the new sports climbing center. Last year, Koper surpassed all expectations by attracting over 7,000 spectators to the premier event it hosted. This year, organizers anticipate an enthusiastic turnout of both domestic and international fans eager to support Janja. Before autumn, Garnbret has another crucial event on her agenda: the World Championships in Bern, Switzerland. A successful performance there would secure her qualification for the Summer Olympic Games in Paris next year.
