A new all-Slovenian ticket for unlimited travel throughout the country & The By Train to Historic Towns campaign

On 1 June, a new ticket for public transport around Slovenia was introduced. The ticket, which allows the use of all regular passenger transport in the country with the exception of urban transport, costs €70 per month or €560 per year.

A new all-Slovenian ticket is available in Slovenia from 1 June, making it possible to use all regular passenger transport in the country, except urban transport, for €70 a month or €560 a year. There are also new daily, three-day and weekly passes for unlimited journeys, but also without city transport. A major change is that each type of ticket now has a maximum price. When the maximum price is reached for a route, the passenger receives a ticket that allows travel throughout the whole of Slovenia, the so-called "Slovenia ticket".

The ticket allows unlimited travel throughout the country on different carriers, but, at least for the time being, it cannot be used for urban passenger transport. As the Ministry explained, this will be sorted out in the next phase, expected by the end of the year. This will also depend on the capacity of next year's budget.

In addition to the monthly and annual passes, daily, three-day and weekly passes for unlimited journeys are available from today. They cost €15, €20 and €35 respectively. These tickets also do not include public transport within the cities.

A novelty is also a 50% discount on all tickets for children aged between 6 and 15 who are not already eligible for any other discounts.

By Train to Historic Towns and Cities

Historic Towns of Slovenia and the Slovenian Museums Association launched The By Train to Historic Towns campaign, which promotes train (and bus*) travel as an environmentally friendly and comfortable travel option, and encourages (domestic) visitors to take advantage of public transport to give up their cars and help keep the environment cleaner. All Slovenian Museums Association members in the historic towns and affiliated institutions from other towns will grant visitors a 20% discount on regular ticket prices to cultural institutions upon presenting a ticket valid on the day of the visit.

Around 80 outstanding heritage sites are taking part in the campaign.
