It's again time for the blooming daffodils on Golica plateau

In May, the Golica Plateau in the Karavanke Alps is strewn with white blooming daffodils.

In May, the whole Golica Plateau is covered in white. But it is not the snow, it is the white blooming daffodils, that we have to thank to. Locals call these white daffodils ključavnice.

For several years now, the Municipality of Jesenice has been organising buses from the villages below Golica during the time when the daffodils bloom. This year, they have decided to make some changes. The buses will only go to Planina pod Golico, and will run continuously between 7 am and 7 pm. The ride will not be free, but will cost €5 for a return ticket. Another novelty is that this year buses will not be running to Javorniški Rovt. It will be possible to drive to Dom Pristava, but not to Križevec, as the forest road in Javorniška Rovt leading to Križevec will be closed.

Parking for visitors with cars will be free of charge. The decision to close the road and organise public transport was taken in Jesenice because of the large number of visitors, which is a burden for a small town. Also, the organisers aim to develop green tourism.
