The Jakob 2023 Award goes to the Drvošec Thematic Trail and the Cerkniško jezero Visitor Centre

The Jakob Award 2023 and the Ambassador of Thematic Trails title has been awarded to the Drvošec Thematic Trail and the Cerknica Lake Visitor Centre, a project of the Notranjska Regional Park. The award will be presented at the Alpe Adria Fair.

The Jakob 2023 Award goes to the Drvošec Thematic Trail and the Cerkniško jezero Visitor Centre

The Jakob prize will be awarded at the Alpe Adria Fair, as part of the opening event, on Wednesday 15 February at Gospodarsko razstavišče Exhibition Centre. This year's theme is "Themed trail as a tourism product". The jury members were Prof. Dr. Janez Bogataj as a Chairman, and Jana Apih, Mateja Sušnik, Marko Lenarčič and Jože Prah.

The jury shortlisted five projects out of 28 applications for the Jakob Prize 2023, taking into account the innovative nature of the proposals:

Škrateljc - Fairytale and adventure transversal across Slovenia 

The Škrateljc Fairytale and Adventure Transversal across Slovenia innovatively presents the natural and cultural heritage of the local environment in a way that allows families to get to know the truly fairytale places across Slovenia through stories.

Karavanke Trail Hiking Trail 

The Kravanke Trail is a 265 km long cross-border long-distance hiking trail divided into 13 daily stages to discover the extremely rich geological, natural and cultural heritage of the area.

Thematic Trail On their own land

The thematic trail On My Own Land, which in 2012 linked seven filming locations in Grahovo ob Bači and Koritnica in Baška Grapa, is now innovatively upgraded with the rich cultural heritage of the area.

The Logar Valley Trail

The Logar Valley Trail is a natural ethnographic trail for individuals and groups of all ages. Its aim is to raise awareness among visitors about nature conservation, preservation of cultural heritage and promotion of sustainable tourism.

Drvošec Thematic Trail and Cerkniško jezero Visitor Centre

In 2022, the Drvošec Thematic Trail received an important upgrade, with the opening of the Cerknica Lake Visitors Centre on 1 October at the starting point of the trail itself, enriched with an interactive exhibition where visitors can discover the mysterious world of the mystical Lake Cerknica and listen to stories of its transformations before or after a walk on the Drvošec Thematic Trail.
