Michelin releases video story on COB
Through a series of videos, the Michelin Guide presents the Slovenian culinary tradition, which draws on the treasures of pristine nature, and the sustainable efforts that our chefs and their teams take into account in their work. The first video was shot with chef Filip Matjaž from COB, a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Located just above Portorož, the 36-seater COB restaurant offers a beautiful view of Piran Bay. As the name COB (Cooking Outside the Box) suggests, the concept of the restaurant is cooking outside the box. It is a contemporary fine dining restaurant with an emphasis on indigenous Istrian flavours. The guest gets to know Slovenian cuisine in a fun, unexpected and interactive way, which has not been explored in Slovenia so far.
The credit for giving Portorož an experiential restaurant goes to the young, smiling chef Filip Matjaž. He is no stranger to the hospitality industry, having come from the famous Matjaž family, which ran the Tomi restaurant and hotel. The COB boasts a Michelin star and the Slovenia Green Cuisine label, as well as three Gault&Millau Slovenia 2022 caps, and Filip has also been selected as Chef of the Future. Brother Patrik, the sommelier, oversees the wine list.
The Michelin Guide film crew visited the restaurant in October.
