On Thursday, October 20, exactly fifteen days before the start of the Women's EHF EURO 2022, the largest women's sports event in the history of Slovenia, a press conference was held in Ljubljana. The press conference was attended by MSc. Maja Pak, director of the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB), Franjo Bobinac, honorary chairman of the organizing committee and Anita Stojčevska, executive director of SKB banka.

The Women's EHF EURO 2022 will take place between November 4 and 20. This is the largest women's sports event in the history of the Republic of Slovenia and also one of the largest events this year. The broadcast is expected to be watched by more than 600 million spectators, and around 10,000 foreign fans are expected to watch it live at the Stožice Hall in Ljubljana and the Zlatorog Hall in Celje. Norwegians, Danes, Hungarians, Swedes, Germans, and French will take the lead in this.

The STB is participating in the event as s a partner, with a number of activities, including strong exposure of the I feel Slovenia brand at match venues and during the television broadcasts, several communication activities on social networks and other communication channels, and in communication with foreign and domestic media. Additionally, a special landing page on the portal slovenia.info was launched and an innovative quiz between two recognizable Slovenian handball players and two recognizable Slovenian basketball players, as well as many other communication activities, which strengthen the reputation of Slovenia as an excellent host of international sports events, and inspire sports fans for active holidays in Slovenia.

Upon this occasion, the Director of the STB, MSc. Maja Pak, pointed out: "The Slovenian Tourist Board is excited to partner with the European Women's Handball Championship, one of the most high-profile sports events hosted by Slovenia this year. It is an opportunity to present Slovenia to 600 million sports fans as an active holiday destination and an excellent host of demanding events. In addition to the sporting spectacle, the championship highlights two other important areas: sustainability and women's empowerment. These are the topics that we, as ambassadors of the championship, want to highlight. Both topics are also included in the business conference that takes place in conjunction with the championship. Along with its extraordinary motivational role and emotional charge, sport thus emphasizes the values that we also pursue in tourism: a healthy and active way of life, care for nature and society, and solidarity. The connection between sport and tourism creates strong long-term synergy, especially in the area of strengthening the visibility and reputation of the country."

The championship also pays great attention to sustainability, as the organizers have set themselves the goal of holding the most sustainable sports event in Slovenia so far. For this purpose, they have formulated precise sustainability standards. The championship also places great emphasis on the inclusion of various stakeholders.

In particular, the championship highlights the role and importance of women in sports and beyond through the ambassadorship of women's empowerment, which was joined by 17 prominent and recognizable women, including MSc. Maja Pak.

The championship will be accompanied by several events, including a conference on sports business opportunities in Slovenia, which will take place from November 2 to 4 at the Union Grand Hotel in Ljubljana.
