Museum on World's Oldest Vine in Maribor opens its doors

Last week, the renovation and contents of the Museum of the Oldest Vine in the World, which opened its doors on 17 June, were presented. The opening hours of the Museum will be from Tuesday to Saturday from 11 am to 6 pm, Sunday and public holidays from 11 am to 4 pm.

The Municipality of Maribor is carefully and strategically renovating the historical part of the city along the Drava River. The area, which will get a completely new look next year, as the Drava embankment will be redeveloped, will, together with the renovated Vojašniški trg and new cultural centers, regain its historical character and significance.

The Museum of the Oldest Vine in the World, which will operate under the auspices of the Maribor Regional Museum, has carefully designed the contents, focusing on the viticultural and winemaking traditions of Maribor and its surroundings. Visitors will be able to see a modern display of the viticultural and winemaking tradition, and wine tastings in connection with the Old Vine House will be available by prior arrangement. The exhibition highlights the oldest vines in the world in the context of the urban development of Lent and Maribor as the viticultural center of Styria. In doing so, it relies on the preserved movable heritage, which further supports the fact of extraordinary age.
