International Museum Day 2022: The Power of Museums
Together with ICOM Slovenia, Slovenian museums will mark the International Museum Day on 18 May. This year's theme is The Power of Museums.
As early as 1977, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) marked May 18 as the International Museum Day, with the aim of raising the profile of museums in society and accelerate their development. Every year, several museums, including Slovenian ones, organise several events to celebrate this holiday.
This year, ICOM Slovenia is organising campaigns that will draw attention to and promote the power and values of Slovenian museums. Between 17 and 30 May, posters around Ljubljana will encourage people to visit museums. Many museums across Slovenia are joining the campaign with special discounts and free admissions.
