Bled and Gorje receive the Zero Waste Cities Certification
The municipalities of Bled and Gorje are the first in Slovenia to receive the international Zero Waste Cities Certification, on the basis of an assessment by the Mission Zero Academy, which audited the success of the implementation of measures required by the project led by Ecologists without Borders in Slovenia.

The Zero Waste Cities Certification is intended to encourage and accelerate the transition of European cities to zero waste and the implementation of the circular economy at local level. In Bled, a number of public institutions is striving to follow the project's guidelines as much as possible.
For Bled Tourism Board, this means promoting the sustainable development of tourism, introducing the zero waste concept into events, and keeping locals, tourism employees and guests informed about waste management in Bled.
An external expert of the Mission Zero Academy (MiZA) audited the success of zero waste measures for Bled and Gorje and showed that significant improvements in the field of zero waste and the circular economy. Thus, the municipalities obtained the Zero Waste Certified City certificate with a rating of two out of five stars.
The certificate is intended to accelerate the transition of European cities to zero waste and the implementation of the circular economy at local level. It represents a major encouragement for Gorje and Bled, as it proves that the transition is not only possible but necessary and can start at the local level.
