Chef Ksenija Mahorčič through the lens of Michelin

Following the launch of the second edition of the MICHELIN Guide Slovenia in September 2021, the story takes you to Gostilna Mahorčič, run by chef Ksenija Mahorčič, which received Green Star.

Gostilna Mahorčič inn has been operating in the small village of Rodik, between Brkini and the Karst, for more than a century. It is run by Ksenija and Martin, the fourth generation of the Mahorčič family.

Ksenija Krajšek Mahorčič became a masterchef "by chance"; she first fell in love with her husband, then with cooking. She is not a chef by profession, but after marrying Martin, she spent 16 or 18 hours a day in the kitchen and quickly developed her passion for cooking to excellence. She finds her inspiration in the surrounding area and likes to connect with local food producers. Her sustainable efforts were also recognized by Michelin evaluators and Gostilna Mahorčič was awarded a Michelin green star. The restaurant also boasts the Slovenia Green Cuisine label.

This is how the creators of Michelin video see her:
