The Old Vine Festival

The Old Vine Festival dedicated to the honouring of the 450-year-old Guiness world record holder, the oldest vine in the world, takes place 30 September – 3 October.

The Old Vine Festival, which annualy attracts a great number of people, includes an array of events, with the most notable being the ceremonious grape harvest of the Old Vine, which will take place on 3 October at 11am. The whole programme of the festival is available here

Old Vine is located in the heart of Maribor, on Lent. It is more than 450 years old and it is the only plant with its very own museum – the Old Vine House. Next to the Old Vine Festival, Maribor hosts a number of other events celebrating the Old Vine, such as the Pruning of the Old Vine and St. Martin’s Day. Believe it or not, the Old Vine even has its own anthem.
