A unique gourmet dinner under the stars you reach – believe it or not – by helicopter

Dinner under the stars is a unique culinary event that takes place, for the second year in a row, during the summer months in the mountain hut Dolga njiva – beneath the Košuta ridge, in the northwestern part of Slovenia, near the historic town of Tržič. At a bit more than 4500 feet (1400 m) above sea level, you will enjoy in a splendid culinary evening where your tastebuds will be spoilt with home-made dishes prepared with produce from their own or the neighbour’s farm. From cold and hot starters through mains to the one thing there’s always room for – dessert. All mountain-style but with a hint of modern touch. During the dinner, you will listen to the soothing sounds of cowbells, charming donkeys, embraced by the candlelights and thousands of stars.

The hut on the Dolga njiva mountain has been kept by the Kleindienst family for some years now. But the aim was to offer something new and exciting to their guests. In 2020, they launched the Dinner under the stars and in 2021, they added a helicopter ride. This means that you can opt for a helicopter to transport you from Tržič to Dolga njiva mountain hut. Another option is a short 20-minute hike from the nearest parking lot.
