Slovenia among top 10 Europe's most road trip friendly destinations

KAYAK/momondo have completed their first-ever Road Trip Index study, a ranking among 31 countries in Europe to determine which countries are best for road trips. Slovenia has reached an outstanding position. Overall, Slovenia has ranked 6th on the Top 10 best countries list. It secured its position thanks to good scores across several ranking factors related to pricing and landmarks. Low fuel, parking and car rental prices combined with high rating of natural assets and density of landmarks in relation to the land area, make Slovenia an attractive and yet affordable destination for a car vacation. Last but not least, travellers don’t need to worry too much about being stuck in traffic jams as congestion level in major Slovenian cities is on a low end.

Top 10 list for overall best destinations for road trips are:

  1. Portugal
  2. Spain
  3. Luxembourg
  4. Germany
  5. Sweden
  6. Slovenia
  7. Finland
  8. Denmark
  9. Italy
  10. Iceland

The Road Trip Index uses 17 specific factors to analyse a country’s road trip-friendliness; factors such as hours of sunshine, road quality, amount of attractive nature, price of petrol, etc. These factors are grouped into six different categories: Weather, Safety & infrastructure, Pricing, Traffic & sustainability, Car hire and Nature & landmarks.

In order to properly raise awareness and promote these exciting findings, a landing page with additional information has been created.
