Slovenia, which is often referred to as the melting pot of flavours between the Alps, the Mediterranean and the Pannonian Plain, has become a trendy culinary destination and earned itself a prestigious place on the world's gastronomy map.

The stories of talented Slovenian chefs attract a number of visitors. They draw inspiration from the crossroads of landscapes and cultures and what they have in common is that they swear by fresh ingredients, which make it onto their plates from nearby gardens, rivers, the sea, forests and meadows. It is thus no wonder that the Michelin Guide inspectors decided to award special MICHELIN SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS to Slovenian chefs for the first time in the history. It was the combination of their style and fresh locally sourced ingredients that convinced them. 

In order to show you the very distinctive character of diverse Slovenian gastronomy, we have put together two gastronomy press tours which will take you to the best Michelin starred restaurants. While one will take you from the Pannonian Plain to the Alps, another will unveil the heart of Slovenia and the area towards the Mediterranean.
