Primož Roglič on the starting line of the virtual Tour of Slovenia Cycling Race

Together with the Sport Media Focus Agency and the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB), the Adria Mobil cycling club has prepared the first Virtual Tour of Slovenia race for recreational cyclists. During the race, some of the best Slovenian professional cyclists will join them, among them also Primož Roglič.

Cycling has become a whole-year-round sports, especially thanks to indoor bike trainers, which allow you to ride on attractive cycling routes from the comfort of your home.

Lately, virtual cycling platforms that are used on indoor bike trainers and simulate features of an actual race on attractive cycling routes have been gaining on popularity. The I Feel Slovenia Virtual Cycling Tour will take place on the Rouvy platform, which has the great advantage of enabling cyclists to see the surroundings of their route by means of a real video recording while they ride.

Between 27 February and 27 March 2021, the I Feel Slovenia Virtual Tour of Slovenia will feature five stages scheduled on five consecutive Saturdays starting at 7 p.m. In the first four stages, recreational cyclists will be able to compete live with four world-renowned Slovenian cyclists: Primož Roglič, Matej Mohorič, Jan Tratnik and Jani Brajkovič. In his role as an ambassador of the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB), Primož Roglič has recorded a special video invitation for cyclists from all around the world to join the race:

The virtual cycling race is an exceptional opportunity to promote Slovenia as a cycling destination, also thanks to the participation of the best Slovenian cyclists, who are great ambassadors of Slovenia in the world. Recreational cyclists from around the world will hence have an opportunity to get to know the natural wonders of Slovenia.

The Adria Mobil cycling club and the Sport Media Focus Agency will make sure that all five stages are streamed live on YouTube. Cyclists may join the Rouvy platform and register themselves for the race on the following link. Upon registration, each cyclist receives a 14-day free trial for the Rouvy app, with additional 14 free days on the following link.

Mojca Novak, the Chair of Adria Mobil and the Organiser of the race: "The Virtual Tour of Slovenia is great. This is a new product of the Adria Mobil cycling club and the partners, created in particular due to the special circumstances we have been facing with in the past year. By organising a virtual race, which will from now on be a part of the cycling calendar every year, we address recreational cycling enthusiasts and give them an opportunity to compete with each other and, first and foremost, with themselves. At the same time, I am thrilled that the stages will be spiced up by professional cyclists, including Primož Roglič, an ambassador of the Adria brand, who will certainly provide recreational cyclists with additional motivation to aim as high as possible in the fight for the green jersey. Considering that the virtual edition has found its way to Slovenia as well, this will be the way to bring cycling in Slovenia closer to the international audience. Let the virtual edition be an interlude for the traditional Tour of Slovenia, which will soon be exciting millions of people around the world."

Bogdan Fink, Director of Adria Mobil Cycling Club: "With the digitalisation of the greatest races, cycling is also becoming an increasingly popular and fast-growing sport in the virtual realm, which was expected given the circumstances. At the same time, this has provided the organisers with a major opportunity to present the current stages and the countryside itself to sports enthusiasts all around the world – whenever and wherever. I believe that with its virtual edition, the Tour of Slovenia will gain extra visibility and an enhanced reputation."

The Slovenian Tourist Board (STB): In the times when organising sports events is not possible or is in many cases limited, we are joining the I FEEL SLOVENIA Virtual Tour of Slovenia and thus intensifying our activities in the field of development and promotion of the active holidays. This product shows a great potential for further growth; surveys put it as one of the main travel trends for 2021. Active holidays will also be a two-year topic of our promotional activities in 2022 and 2023. We are aware that highly publicised sport events intended for recreational athletes play a major role for the promotion of Slovenia as a destination for active holidays. Cycling, specifically, is an activity where sports is directly connected with the tourism product. We are convinced that the virtual race will help present Slovenia to many sport enthusiasts and major media outlets around the world as a destination for healthy and active experiences, and as an excellent host of sporting events. We are thrilled that professional cyclists, including Primož Roglič, will participate in the project, as they will help promote Slovenia effectively as a destination for active breaks and share the values of the 'I feel Slovenia' brand.
