Bright lights, small city: Ljubljana again among the best
Monocle, the renowned UK magazine, has published the annual "Small Cities Index" and ranked Ljubljana among the 25 best.

Thanks to urban greenery, a pedestrianised centre that blends medieval and baroque architecture, plenty of cycling lanes and many initiatives to improve quality of life, Ljubljana has earned its place on the Monocle's Small Cities Index. The article describes it as 'one of Europe's most interesting small capitals'.
Due to currently unpredictable times, 2020 trends are leaning towards the increasing popularity of smaller cities. According to Monocle, a good part of the inhabitants of large metropolises have considered downsizing from the metropolis to a quieter place, a more manageable municipality, which also provides plenty of room for movement in nature and breathing fresh air. Their annual Small Cities Index profiles the places that still offer enough urban life despite their size.

Monocle magazine was launched in London in 2007 to provide a briefing on global affairs, business, culture, design and much more. The aim was to reach out to a globally minded audience of readers who were hungry for opportunities and experiences beyond their national borders.
