Foodies news alert: the opening of the Vila Planinka Restaurant

Vila Planinka, a superb boutique hotel located in the stunning mountainous area of Jezersko has opened its restaurant also to the daily visitors and passers-by. On this occasion, a grand opening dinner has been organized attended by a number of guests. Among them were also Aljaž Škorjanec and Janette Manrara, the stars of the British dance show Strictly Come Dancing. They have visited Vila Planinka already earlier this year.

The owners of Vila Planinka say that the reason for opening the restaurant also for the passers-by was simply a response to the high demand of lovers of fine cuisine. Thus, they have been working on their exquisite culinary story for more than a year now. The philosophy of the restaurant is to use locally grown ingredients and offer best Slovenian wines:

"We work with local eco farms, which supply us with fresh and high-quality ingredients. Locally-produced food travels the shortest possible distance from garden to table, which is reflected in a full flavour. We are also proud of our own mineral water, which is bottled on the premises. We have made sure it is available in all the rooms in reusable packaging to foster environmental awareness." 

"Sustainability on the plate" is also something that has been served to the guests of the opening dinner, where a seven-course menu was designed by chef Jakob Jerala.

The specialty of the restaurant is their thorough wine selection, which includes as many as 125 wine labels, most of which come from boutique, biodynamic and organic producers. 

The Vila Planinka Restaurant will also join the Spring Edition of the Restaurant Week, taking place at March 20 – 29. If you’re interested in visiting, book in advance, to ensure the best possible gourmand experience.
