Join our Cultural Campaigns 2018/19

The Slovenian Tourist Board will promote its countless cultural offerings at this year’s World Travel Market as part of its 2018/2019 Year of Culture campaign. Following the campaign’s successful launch at last year’s WTM, the STB will pay particular attention to its ancient castles and UNESCO heritage sites while maintaining its efforts to promote responsible tourism.

Hear our sustainable destination development strategy

This year the Slovenian Tourist Board hopes to raise awareness for its lesser known sites and destinations to showcase those beyond tourism hotspots. Slovenia will promote its historic buildings and World Heritage sites in attempt to protect and preserve the country’s rich history, with a focus on its magnificent castles and ancient sites.

Discover our ancient castles

Slovenia is home to some of the most intriguing castles in the world, from the magical beauty of Bled to the staggering heights of the world’s largest castle in a cave, Predjama Castle, hovering half way up a 123m tall cave. Among Slovenia’s top cultural sites are the impressive Ljubljana Castle, the oldest vine in the world in Maribor, the second largest city, and some of the planet’s most staggering caves.

Many of our country’s historic castles, like the luxurious Grad Otočec, and Gredič Castle, have even been converted into intriguing and luxurious hotels. Discover The Strmol Mansion, the 13th century castle, located in the village of Cerklje na Gorenjskem, which recently won the prestigious, Unique Castle of the Year 2018. You can learn more about our unique hotel offerings at the WTM.

Meet our official WTM partner - Ljubljana Castle

This year the Slovenian Tourist Board has teamed up with Ljubljana castle as its official WTM partner to help preserve and protect the historic site, showcasing its awesome scale and fascinating history. The most central attraction in Slovenia’s capital, Ljubljana Castle has provided unforgettable panoramic views of the city for 900 years. To experience Ljubljana at its best, a climb up the castle tower to 400m above sea level is not to be missed.
