Into the wild!
Did you know that you are not born a Slovenian but you become a Slovenian when you climb the country’s highest mountain? At the heart of Triglav National Park in the Julian Alps, Mt. Triglav rises to an elevation of 2,864 m and has a great symbolic meaning for Slovenians.

Hiking has become a passion of Slovenians. Our advantage is that our country stretches over a part of the Alpine range, rocky peaks, highlands, over forest-covered hills, hillocks to plains. Geographical diversity is not only a visual attraction but helps us find the most suitable path. Those with more experience will explore the Alpine world, whereas beginners will choose the less demanding trails in the Pannonian Plains with many thermal spa resorts, or the Mediterranean region and the Karst.
Since mountaineering has a rich tradition in Slovenia, there is a dense network of mountain huts and hiking trails. Trails are clearly marked and many have special information boards, which means that a guide is not needed.
You can quench your thirst, satisfy your hunger and find shelter in popular mountain huts or even on tourist farms. You will find them (nearly) everywhere and they are famous for their hospitality and culinary delights.
With the brochures about hiking trails and tourist farms in your backpack or on your phone, you do not have to worry about anything.
