Tourist Farms Bring Slovenia’s Living Heritage to the Life

The Association of Tourist Farms of Slovenia, together with farms across the country, has launched a new project that transforms intangible cultural heritage into authentic, hands-on visitor experiences. Through thoughtfully designed programmes, guests are invited to step into the traditions, skills, and everyday life of the Slovenian countryside.

Titled Intangible Cultural Heritage Experiences, the initiative draws on elements listed in the national Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage, reinterpreting them for today’s travellers. From time-honoured crafts and customs to rich culinary traditions, each experience offers a direct and meaningful encounter with Slovenia’s rural identity.

Visitors can opt for day visits or extended stays, taking part in activities such as preparing traditional dishes, exploring local dialects, and discovering the rhythms of life closely connected to nature.

By bridging heritage and tourism, the project not only safeguards cultural traditions but also enriches Slovenia’s rural tourism offer and reinforces its commitment to sustainability.
