GO2025: European Capital of Culture in September

September in Nova Gorica and Gorizia will bring a vibrant fusion of gastronomy, fashion, music, literature and performance as the European Capital of Culture 2025 unfolds its richly varied programme.

One of the highlights will be the popular cross-border food and wine festival Gusti di Frontiera, which for the first time expands across both cities. From 25 to 28 September, Gorizia will welcome food and drink stalls from around the world, while from 26 to 28 September Nova Gorica will host the festival along Kolodvorska pot. Visitors can enjoy culinary projects such as the Laboratory for the Future of Food and Super Eight, while evenings in Europe Square will come alive with numerous concerts.

Another September highlight will be the arrival of sustainable fashion pioneer Matea Benedetti, who will transform the twin cities into a hub of eco-conscious style. From 1 to 19 September, The Circle in Gorizia will host the exhibition GO! 2025 x Benedetti Life: From Waste to Beauty, presenting pieces created from advanced sustainable materials. The exhibition will open on 6 September, followed by a spectacular fashion show on 13 September under the arcades of the Nova Gorica Town Hall.

The month also features a wealth of cultural events: theatre performances by acclaimed directors Giacomo Pedini and Janusz Kica; the literary festival Mesto knjige: Manifest; the fantasy gathering Hobbiton in Gorizia; and the Artcycle project linking communities through art, workshops and exhibitions. Music lovers can enjoy Kino Basaglia film screenings in Trieste, international concerts in Nova Gorica and Gorizia, as well as the unique International Bat Night at Rihemberk Castle.

With its blend of food, art and sustainability, September in the European Capital of Culture promises unforgettable cross-border experiences that celebrate creativity and community spirit.
