Vueling to Launch Flights to Connect Barcelona and Ljubljana Airport

Scheduled to start on 16 November 2025, Ljubljana Airport will get a new direct air connection to Barcelona El Prat Airport. The service will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. During the peak holiday period, from 9 December to 6 January, a third weekly flight will be added on Tuesdays.

This winter season, Ljubljana Airport will gain a new direct air connection, as Spanish low-cost carrier Vueling has announced the launch of flights to Barcelona El Prat Airport. The new route will enhance connectivity between Slovenia and Spain, further expanding the range of low-cost flights from Ljubljana.

Scheduled to start on 16 November 2025, the service will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. During the peak holiday period, from 9 December to 6 January, a third weekly flight will be added on Tuesdays. The new route will enhance connectivity between Slovenia and Spain, further expanding the range of low-cost flights from Ljubljana. Tickets are already available for purchase via the airline’s website, www.vueling.com and mobile app.

Barcelona El Prat Airport is one of Europe’s major hubs, from which Vueling offers onward connections to more than 100 destinations across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. The new route will not only improve travel options for Slovenian passengers but also position Ljubljana Airport as a convenient entry point for incoming tourists from Spain.

In 2025, Ljubljana Airport’s flight network will be strengthened with a total of six new routes. In addition to Vueling’s newly announced Barcelona service, the network includes recently launched Eurowings flights to Düsseldorf and KLM flights to Amsterdam, as well as upcoming services by Air Albania to TiranaeasyJet to Manchester and airBaltic to Las Palmas (Gran Canaria).

According to the 2025 ACI Europe Connectivity Report, Slovenia’s air connectivity has grown by 23% this year, ranking first among EU member states for annual growth. This achievement is the result of several factors, including the expanded presence of existing airlines at Ljubljana Airport, the arrival of new carriers and proactive efforts to attract new airlines and strengthen the network through close cooperation with the government and the Slovenian Tourist Board.
