European Capital of Culture 2025 in August

August in the European Capital of Culture is bursting with creativity. Experience GO! 2025 through open‑air cinemas, art in unexpected places, music in historic squares, and a taste of borderless gastronomy.

July marked the opening of the brand‑new GO! 2025 Info Point, located in the emerging EPICenter – the vibrant meeting point between Nova Gorica and Gorizia. Open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM, including weekends, it’s the go‑to hub for European Capital of Culture information and events. On 28 August, the space will also welcome the grand opening of the official EPIC Café – inviting locals and visitors alike to drop by and enjoy the cultural buzz over a coffee.

August brings a lively mix of film, art and cross‑border experiences to the twin towns and beyond. The travelling Kino Soča / Cinema Isonzo takes the big screen to Villa De Nordis in Gorizia, as well as to Lokve, Bovec, Kanal, Prebenico, Topolò, and Grgar, while the Silvan Furlan Open‑Air Cinema continues under the summer skies of Nova Gorica. The month closes on 31 August with a special screening of Jože Babič’s Three Quarters of the Sun in Europe Square.

Looking ahead, food and wine lovers can anticipate a culinary milestone. From 25 to 28 September 2025, the much‑loved Gusti di Frontiera festival will, for the first time, embrace a cross‑border format, spreading from Gorizia into Nova Gorica along Kolodvorska pot, in Europe Square, and its surroundings. Under the name Tastes Without Borders, this expanded edition will transform the area into one of Europe’s most exciting open‑air dining experiences.

From open‑air cinema under the stars to art in inspiring venues, concerts in historic squares, and a taste of borderless gastronomy, the summer programme offers countless ways to experience the creativity and cultural energy of GO! 2025.
