440 years of Lipica Stud Farm

One of the most prominent tourist destinations in Slovenia, and home to more than 300 white Lipizzan horses - Lipica Stud Farm - is getting ready to celebrate its 440th anniversary. The day to spend in nature, surrounded by white Lipizzan horses and their lovely black foals, is 24th May.

440 years of Lipica Stud Farm

Lipica Stud Farm as the oldest European Lipizzan stud farm and one of the oldest stud farms in the world is currently in the process of being registered on the UNESCO heritage list, but has been for long a national symbol and a natural and cultural-historical monument of Slovenia.

The event on 24th May, taking place in the Lipica hippodrome, will include an equestrian-musical spectacle, with more than 70 white Lipizzan horses and artistic and ballet performances to match the Lipizzan elegance. For the occasion there will be many activities at stud farm, like training and making friends with horses, watching them at their morning departure to the pastures and exploring why white Lipizzan mares give birth to black foals. There will be guided tour to the historical centre of Lipica and carriage rides in the unique estate of Lipica, with more than 300 hectares of green nature. Visitors will be able to watch shows with Lipizzan horses performing figures of classical dressage at the riding hall as well.
