Underground Slovenia Unique Experience
With winter on our doorstep, some of us are looking forward to welcoming snow and enjoying activities on snow, while others are already dreaming of summer. These Slovenia Unique Experiences (SUE) are of course intended for everyone, but the information will most likely delight those who prefer to avoid the snow.
We are presenting three SUE that are happening in the place where there is no snow and the temperature remains stable, most often between 8 and 10°C, the underground. Discover the hidden gems of Postojna Cave with experience called "In the Footsteps of Luka Čeč". Accompanied by experienced speleologists and biologists, you will follow the footsteps of the first explorers, and discover beautiful, non-tourist parts of Postojna Cave.
You can go deeper on the "Velenje Underground" adventure, which will take you as much as 160 metres below the surface into the Coal Mining Museum of Slovenia. Experience a world-class dining experience hosted by the Villa Herberstein team in the world of miners, in Slovenia's deepest dining room. And how to get there? By taking the oldest lift in Slovenia.
The "Kayaking in the Mine" adventure will take you even deeper below the surface. This is an intimate experience of a mine, which has preserved all of its original infrastructure after it closed in 1994. You will row 700 metres below the earth's surface with a guide that is a former miner and explore excavation areas, tunnels, and spacious underground chambers.
