Promotional Campaign: Slovenia. It's All in Our Nature.

The first-ever comprehensive national promotional campaign, which unites sport and tourism. Launched by the Slovenian Tourist Board and the Olympic Committee of Slovenia, it showcases Slovenia's stunning landscapes in connection with its top athletes like Janja Garnbret, Tadej Pogačar, Kristjan Čeh, Andreja Leški, Toni Vodišek, the women's handball team and the men's volleyball team.

For the 2024 Paris Olympics, Slovenia seized the opportunity to position itself as a leading destination for both sports and tourism. The Olympic Committee of Slovenia (OCS) and the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) collaborated on a historic campaign that highlighted Slovenia’s natural beauty, sporting success and commitment to sustainability.

Through powerful storytelling, breathtaking visuals and a unified message, the campaign showcased Slovenia’s unique blend of active experiences, nature and national pride to both domestic and international audiences.

Background

Ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, the challenge was clear: how to make use of this unique opportunity to position Slovenia as a top sports and tourism destination.

The goal was to create a unified, comprehensive national campaign that resonates with both local and international audiences.

In a groundbreaking collaboration, the Olympic Committee of Slovenia (OCS) and the Slovenian Tourist Board have united their efforts to craft a dynamic campaign.

Take a look at the milestones of this inspiring journey, paving the way for a memorable showcase of Slovenia on the global stage.

Uniting Sport and Tourism for the First Time

The first-ever comprehensive national promotional campaign, which unites sport and tourism, promotes Slovenia as a top destination for active experiences, cleverly playing on the dual meaning of "nature" to highlight both the country’s stunning landscapes and the character of its people.

By featuring Slovenian sporting heroes alongside beautiful images of nature, the campaign promotes Slovenia not only as a tourist hotspot but also as a place where sports, healthy lifestyles and sustainable values are deeply ingrained.

It’s all in our nature.
We are inspired by its beauty,
we are defined by its character,
we feel one with its power.
And when you discover it all
– you will find your best.

Slovenia: it’s all in our nature.

🌿💚

Emphasizing shared values, including outdoor adventures and healthy lifestyles for all ages, the campaign also highlights Slovenia as a sustainable destination for sports experiences, events and training.

A key aspect is the positioning of the national I feel Slovenia brand, which embodies a passion for everything cherished in Slovenia and invites people to experience the country's beauty and values. The brand's foundation in Slovenian green reflects the nation's pristine nature and strong commitment to sustainability.

Determination is in my nature.

Janja Garnbret – sport climber

💚 BLED

Lake Bled and a castle perched on a cliff is one of the most beautiful Alpine resorts in Europe.

Key Performance Indicators

The KPIs were two-fold:

  • Measurable outcomes: boosting tourism inquiries, amplifying social media engagement, driving increased website traffic and broadening audience reach.
  • Elevating Slovenia’s global profile as a top sports and tourism destination & showcasing gender equality in sports.

Domestically, the goal was to boost support for Slovenian athletes, ensuring the campaign resonated also strengthened national pride and enthusiasm for the country's sports heroes.

A fighting spirit is in my nature.

💚 SOČA VALLEY

The Soča Valley is Slovenia's leading outdoor destination, a hub of action, festivals and discoveries. The emerald green Soča River offers a playground for various water sports, while numerous thematic trails wind along its banks, uncovering the heritage of the First World War as well as other captivating stories of the valley.

The Creative Concept

The aim was to create a story that highlights how Slovenia’s nature shapes its national character, which drives the country’s success in sports.

Filmed across 12 breathtaking locations, the campaign features over 20 top athletes and 3 para-athletes. The soundtrack, composed by world-renowned DJ Umek, blends modern beats with the authentic sounds of Slovenia. To enhance engagement, several short videos were created, each focusing on individual athletes, along with one main video lasting approximately 90 seconds that showcases the highlights of their adventures.

Visually, the campaign employed a striking double exposure technique, merging athletes’ portraits with iconic Slovenian landscapes. The main image was placed against the backdrop of Slovenia’s highest peak, Mount Triglav, symbolizing the nation’s strength and connection to its natural heritage.

Each athlete was filmed in an environment that reflects their identity and discipline. This included extraordinary locations like rock climbing at Bled Castle rock, playing volleyball in Postojna Cave and visiting Ljubljana Castle at sunrise.

The Piran salt pans, where world-class fleur de sel is still produced using age-old methods, were the foundation for this picturesque Mediterranean walled town with a charming church offering stunning views and a number of cultural attractions.

Multiple Languages

The campaign's message was delivered in multiple languages. While the message remained consistent across foreign markets with "Slovenia. It's All in Our Nature," it was slightly adapted for Slovenia: "Slovenija. Uspeh je v naši naravi" (translated as "Slovenia: Success is in Our Nature"), aimed to encourage local fans to support their athletes during the Olympics.

Competitiveness is in my nature.

💚 PTUJ

Ptuj is an old town of new experiences. Overlooking the town, the castle with the oldest wine cellars hosts one of the most colourful carnivals in the world. The vibrant Kurenti masks, a highlight of this festival, have earned recognition from UNESCO.

A notable highlight of the campaign was the inclusion of Paralympians, which underscores a strong commitment to supporting the Paralympic Games and reflects pride in representing all athletes, regardless of their abilities. By showcasing the incredible talent and determination of Paralympic athletes, the campaign aims to promote inclusivity and highlight their inspiring stories.
