Also in 2026, arts and culture are the main communication theme. The Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) has employed a number of communication channels and tools to unveil Slovenia as a modern, creative and irresistible cultural tourism destination.

The Association of Slovenian Historical Towns

The Association of Historical Towns of Slovenia brings together Slovenia’s most picturesque and historically significant towns, united by a shared commitment to preserving cultural heritage while shaping vibrant, contemporary urban life. These towns are guardians of medieval squares, castles, churches, artisan traditions and living stories that reflect centuries of Central European, Mediterranean and Alpine influences.

Bela Krajina: Living Heritage in the Land of White Birches

Bela Krajina will come to life through a visually striking and immersive presentation. Animators dressed in traditional white linen costumes will embody the purity and heritage of this “land of white birches,” instantly drawing visitors into its cultural story.

Guests will not only observe but actively participate in the creation of two of the region’s most iconic crafts: pisanice, decorated using beeswax in the characteristic red–black–white palette, and drsanke, delicately scratched ornaments carved into dyed eggshells with remarkable precision. As a tribute to the region’s winemaking tradition, vinorel painting – using wine instead of pigments – will further highlight Bela Krajina’s creative spirit.

Global Leading Destination in Responsible and Green Tourism

Slovenia prioritizes sustainable principles and is committed to acting sustainably. Tourism in Slovenia is developed with a special sense for nature and green experiences.

This is united in The Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism, a tool developed at the national level and a certification programme. It combines all the efforts for the sustainable development of tourism in Slovenia, which will help preserve this incredible diversity also for the generations yet to come.

We are proud that the Scheme is included in the handbook of the European Travel Commission (ETC) as the best practice example for the implementation of green schemes by national tourist boards around Europe. We are also proud that Slovenia is the first country in the world that has received the Green destination title.

Germany Remains No.1 Market

With more than 80 million inhabitants, Germany is a world power, economically at the forefront both in Europe and globally. The image and perception of Slovenia on the German market has been changing positively over the last few years, and over time it has become more recognisable as a safe, nearby, green destination with a diverse and varied offer.

Germany continues to hold its position as the top foreign market for Slovenian tourism. In close cooperation with the tourism industry, we implement a range of marketing activities, including trade fair and workshop presentations, which recorded record attendance both last year and this year (CMT Stuttgart alone attracted around 300,000 visitors). At this year’s CMT, we confirmed a major partnership — Slovenia as the partner country for next year — a milestone welcomed by numerous representatives of the Slovenian tourism industry.

The market is supported by a comprehensive digital campaign, multiple media partnerships, TV and radio advertising, numerous press trips for journalists, influencers and TV crews, targeted story placements in key media outlets, German-language podcast production, and other activities aimed at strengthening Slovenia’s positioning as a tourism destination in what is undoubtedly one of the leading travel markets in Europe and worldwide.

This year, additional promotional activities showcasing Slovenian gastronomy will take place alongside the JRE Congress, scheduled for April in Cologne. The objective is to present Slovenia as the next host of the World JRE Congress in 2028.
