Slovenians love to ride bicycles. The country’s diverse cycling paths, a series of cycling events, and successes by professional cyclists are putting Slovenia on the map of the top cycling destinations. Although 2020 brought new challenges due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the Slovenian passion for cycling grew even stronger, as reflected in a high demand for bicycles and cycling equipment.
What has increased the excitement about cycling even more are the recent successes of Slovenian cyclists in the most prestigious road races. Exciting the fans the most were Primož Roglič and Tadej Pogačar, whose dramatic finish in the 2020 Tour de France 2020 made sure that the Slovenian national anthem was played at the end on the Champs-Élysées.
Although the current situation does not allow us to take a bicycle tour of Slovenia together, you can still join us for a cycling race around Slovenia. A virtual one, of course. Between 27 February and 27 March 2021, we will be spinning pedals together by means of the virtual indoor cycling app Rouvy in the first I FEEL SLOVENIA Virtual Cycling Race around Slovenia. Don't worry, because the race is intended for recreational cyclists, although we will be joined every time by professional cyclists, headlined by Primož Roglič.
The I FEEL SLOVENIA Virtual Cycling Race around Slovenia will take place in five stages (five different routes). Awaiting you first is virtual cycling through the iconic world of the Julian Alps. The second stage will take you along the sea-coast. In the third stage, you will climb to the popular ski resort of Krvavec. The fourth route runs through the Bela Krajina region to Novo Mesto, and the last challenge is a time trial around Ljubljana.
The stages will be held for five consecutive Saturdays at 7 p.m. If you want to feel like a professional, you can watch the race on the ROUVY YouTube channel with a commentary in English.
This virtual race across Slovenia may inspire you to visit the green country of Slovenia as soon as it’s possible to do so once again.
