Green facts

Slovenia writes a green story. Feel it at every step.

Bohinj is an area of the National Park, Natura 2000 and the biosphere area of UNESCO MAB.

Bohinj is exceptionally biotically and botanically diverse, quite unlike any other site in the world and this diversity is protected by international conventions, various programmes, global organisations and Triglav National Park.

Green mobility is promoted through the Bohinj summer and winter mobility cards, which provide various benefits for users, e.g. free public transport around Bohinj and free parking.

The “Bohinjsko/From Bohinj” brand guarantees high quality local dishes and beverages, culinary delights from farms and crafted products.

Baked Lake Trout with Mohant Cheese

A selected culinary specialty of Bohinj, the Mohant cheese, which has been awarded the European Protected Designation of Origin, also goes perfectly with fish dishes. The lake is home to several species of fish, the best known being zlatovščica and native lake trout, which together with Mohant cheese is one of the traditional Slovenian/Bohinj dishes.
