Poetry, Wine, and Conversation in the Heart of Slovenia’s Oldest City

Poetry stays in Ptuj. The Versia Festival is coming.

From August 20 to 22, 2026, Ptuj will host the inaugural edition of the Versia Festival, a new international poetry festival that will take place at the city’s historic venues, the central Vraz Square, and other locations that reflect the rich history and charm of Slovenia’s oldest city.

Over the course of the three-day festival, more than 30 events will take place. Admission to all events is free. In addition to the main poetry readings and literary discussions, the program will also include meetings with translators, evening concerts, outdoor events, and projects that bring poetry into public spaces.
