Ultra Trail Vipava Valley I feel Slovenia

Ultra Trail Vipava Valley I feel Slovenia

The event begins with the opening of the EXPO area and BIB number pick-up. The competitive part starts the next day with the Kids Run, followed by the start of the longest, 160 km Emperor race, and then the 110 km Centurion. The next day, Gladiators tackle the 60 km course, followed by Legionars on 30 km, Obelix hikers, Asterix runners on 15 km, and Castra Run competitors on 10 km. The event concludes on Sunday with the arrival of the last runners and the award ceremony for the top finishers.

UTVV I Feel Slovenia is the first organized trail-running event in Slovenia, which was first introduced in the Vipava Valley in 2015. This year marks the 10th edition, expecting around 2,500 runners from around the world. The event offers seven distances, six of which are competitive, while one is a tasting hike through vineyards, celebrating the rich wine heritage of the Vipava region. Among the competitive distances, special mention goes to the only 100-mile race in Slovenia, the Emperor Powered by AL!VE (160 km), which covers the entire Vipava Valley and extends into the Goriška region and neighboring Italy. Both the Emperor (160 km) and its shorter version, the Centurion SCARPA (110 km), offer runners the opportunity to qualify for prestigious international trail races such as the Western States Endurance Run and Ultra Trail Mont Blanc.

The Vipava Valley is known for its historical significance, especially as the site of the famous Roman Battle of the Frigidus, fought between the armies of Roman Emperor Theodosius the Great and the rebel Eugenius in 394 AD. In tribute to the Roman heritage of the Vipava Valley, the UTVV I Feel Slovenia race distances are named after Roman warriors. However, the event encourages runners to seek the battle not outside but within themselves, finding the warrior that creates a better today and tomorrow deep within.

In addition to the competitive and inspiring atmosphere brought by long-distance runners, the event is enriched by the beautiful spring scenery of the Mediterranean Karst Vipava Valley, its rich cultural heritage, and vibrant entertainment.
