In December 2011 tourists created 4% more tourist arrivals and 2% more overnight stays in tourist accommodations in Slovenia compared to December 2010. In 2011 (in the whole year), 7% more tourist arrivals and 5% more tourist overnight stays were recorded compared to 2010. In 2011, 9% more foreign tourist arrivals as well as 9% overnight stays were registered compared to 2010.

In 2011, 7% more tourist arrivals were registered in tourist accommodations compared to 2010. In the same comparison the number of overnight stays increased by 5%. Compared to 2010, in 2011 the number of arrivals of domestic tourists increased by 4% and the number of their overnight stays by 1%. In 2011 there were more arrivals of foreign tourists as well as their overnight stays (each by 9%).

Compared to December 2010, in December 2011 4% more tourist arrivals and 2% more overnight stays were registered in tourist accommodations. In the same comparison there were 1% more arrivals of domestic tourists, who created 3% less overnight stays. The number of foreign tourist arrivals and of their overnight stays was higher (the former by 7% and the latter by 6%).

The Italians, the Austrians and the Croats created 60% of foreign overnight stays in Slovenia in December 2011

Overnight stays of foreign tourists represented 51% of all overnight stays in December 2011. The highest shares were contributed by tourists from Italy (38%), Austria (12%) and Croatia (10%), followed by tourists from Serbia and Germany (each 5%). Compared to December 2010, in December 2011 tourists from Austria created 23% more overnight stays, tourists from Italy 9% more and tourists from Serbia 8% more; higher numbers were also recorded for tourists from some other countries. At the annual level in December 2011 the the number of overnight stays of tourists from Germany decreased by 7% (but increased by 11,7% in the whole year of 2011) and of tourists from Croatia by 2%.

The highest annual increase in the number of tourist arrivals and their overnight stays in December 2011 in Ljubljana

In December 2011, the number of tourist arrivals was the highest in health (spa) resorts (34%); these resorts also recorded the highest number of overnight stays, 42% or 7% more than in December 2010. Second placed were mountain resorts, where 20% of all tourist overnight stays were recorded, which is 12% less than in December 2010. In the same comparison seaside resorts (13% of all tourist overnight stays) recorded a 2% annual increase in overnight stays. The municipality Ljubljana with a 10% share of all tourist overnight stays recorded an 11% annual increase.

In December 2011, most (72% of all) overnight stays were registered in hotels, followed by holiday dwellings (8% of all overnight stays). Compared to December 2010, in December 2011 the number of overnight stays increased in hotels by 3% and in holiday dwellings by 2%.
