Studor in Bohinj, Oplen House (Oplenova hiša)
Studor 16 4267 Srednja vas v Bohinju
Oplen homestead, built in the beginning of the 19th century, lies in the condensed nucleus of the village of Studor. The orchards reach from the condensed part of the village at the edge of the hill to the road. On the other side are meadows and the group of hayracks mentioned before.
Under the wide roof of Oplen House, a kind of elongated home from the19th century with a shingled roof spreading above the outbuilding, are the living quarters and the outbuilding. In the former shed the caretaker arranged a room for the reception of guests with different "museum items". Alpine houses in the valleys, where they had severe winters, enabled easier work in the house and with the cattle. People from Bohinj could make clogs and wooden vessels for minced lard, and the women did knitting.
In the three-part house, on one side of the winding stone hall with the three "black" kitchen fire places (stove, kitchen fire place, kettle for the cattle), there is a wooden residential part, a smaller basement and an arranged attic. This served as a storeroom and an extra bedroom. By the kitchen there is the passage to the stable, and in front of the entrance, the cart track to the barn. Under the jutting roof there was enough space to pile up the firewood by the house. By 1991 the house had been thoroughly renovated and fitted with objects belonging to such a house. In the "black" kitchen they still cook and dry meat products.
The house is regularly maintained.
The Oplen House is open from 25.12 to 30.06 every day except Monday from 10:00 to 12:00 and 16:00 to 18:00 and from 01.09 to 31.10 every day except Monday from 10:00 to 12:00 and 16:00 to 18:00. During the summer season (01.07?31.08), every day except Monday from 11:00 to 19:00. The museum is closed from 25.10 to 25.12.
