beside a river; in the countryside
The sun-drenched agrarian villages of the uplands on the right bank of the Sava are surrounded by meadows and forests. Hikers and cyclists are greeted by vast panoramic plains at the top.
The villages of Srednja Dobrava, Zgornja Dobrava and Spodnja Dobrava are situated on elevated ground between the Sava and the Lipnica Stream. You will be captivated by the unspoiled nature which features karst vrtača depressions, orchards amidst the meadows, and wonderful views of the Karavanke Range and Jelovica Plateau. Here, you can admire the vistas of the Jamnik church atop a hill on the opposite side of the Lipnica Valley.
During World War II, almost all the villagers were deported to Germany by the Germans – on the day the deportation took place, 5 December, there is a holiday in the village. At the cemetery next to the parish church, Stane Žagar, a local teacher, people's enlightenment activist and national hero, is laid to rest with his fellow fighters.
