beside a river; in the countryside
The agrarian village of Mošnje features the remnants of a Romanesque basilica in the Church of St Andrew, and an Antique villa rustica is situated not far from the settlement. Furthermore, the village is home to the only centre for retired race horses in Slovenia, as well as the nearby Lipizzaner stud farm. The Church of St Andrew dates back to the Romanesque period and is widely held to be one of the oldest churches in Slovenia. With its rich architecture and opulent decorations, it is one of the most important churches in the country. Across the road from the church, Mošnje Museum occupies an old house and can be viewed upon prior arrangement. Here, more mature visitors will feel pangs of nostalgia for their younger years, and the youngsters can see the equipment and everyday objects once used by their forebears.

In the canyon beneath the village flows the Dobruša Stream, which once provided the hydraulic power for three mills and sawmills. The Korošec Sawmill has been preserved as a functioning technical heritage landmark. In the south, where the highway comes closest to Mošnje, the main connection between the Ljubljana Basin and the Klagenfurt Basin was already in place during the Roman era. A Roman settlement took root here some 2000 years ago and existed for almost 400 years. After having been hidden for centuries under soil deposits, a villa rustica was discovered during the construction of the highway. A walking trail links Mošnje's landmarks with the Roman settlement.
In addition to horseback riding tours, a horseback riding school, and an innovative approach to horses, Mošnje Equestrian Centre provides high-quality care for retired race horses. Horse-drawn carriage rides can be arranged at the Barbana Lipizzaner Stud Farm, which is based near Mošnje in the village of Globoko.
