Križ is an elongated village with several new houses. In the centre of the village stands a chapel of the Holy Mother and a stone cross from 1866, which was sculptured at night and is a sign of gratitude for salvation against flights of grasshoppers that devastated Karst at that time. It is said that this is only a pretext and that this is a memorial to the local men who were executed due to rebellion. On the main road stands almost 500 years old church of St. Cross. It is made of stone, covered with skrle and built in gothic style. On both sides of the main road to Sežana is a pine forest Kriški bori, which already Srečko Kosovel praised in his songs. It is said that the king of Huns Attila died on his return to Italy and is buried in one of the karst caves that exists in the surroundings of Križ.
