Hudi Log is a lumpy village on the west side of the Karst plateau. The
name Hudi Log means a forest grove. Italians named it Malobosco and
Germans called it In der Auen oder Lugi. There is a chapel of Our Lady
of Fatima in the village. In the village vicinity are some Karst caves: on
Prijemanje, in Šumajišče and the Globje brezno cave by the military road
towards Nova vas. In the village stand two well-preserved reservoirs with
troughs, once used to water cattle. In Hudi Log took place tough battles
between Italy and Austro-Hungary during the First World War because
here was the front line.
The village surroundings are suitable for bicycling. A great fire in 2003
had devastated quite a large area.
