The village has prehistorical origin and goes as far back as neolitik. We can also find remains of pre-roman and roman building sites and close to the church the remains of medieval castle. At the edge of dol Lisično, there is “Ajdovščina žegen” (Ajdovščina cemetery), where they have found prehistorical graves, large objects made of bronze and sabers from French period. The oldest house is Fifetova house (17th century) with “spahnjenca” and fireplace, that is still in use. Near the village there is a church of St. Helen, surrounded by wall, the altar painting is painted by painter J. Raspet from year 1865. The church has preserved one of the most quality frescoes in Slovenia (the arrival of St. Three Kings from year 1490), work of Janez from Kastvo, who is also the author of famous frescoes from Hrastovlje.
