Šibelji is very small village at the north part of Komenski Kras. There are hills Trstelj (the highest hill in the Karst area) and Lipnik above the village and pass Železna vrata (Iron door) between the two, which is a connecting road towards Vipava valley since Roman times. There is a pilgrimage way to the hill St. Katarina where you can find prehistoric settlement and ruins of a roman church. Today there are two bells for good luck at the top of the hill. There are also many others remains around this area, also close to the empty village Mihalji. Just to mention as interesting fact: there is also a deserted house close to Šibelji which was flooded with water from swift spring and that is way it was left empty. There is a word around that there was so much water that it was decanting from one valley to another.

Automobiles : The local road from Komen towards Kostanjevica is passing through the village Škrbina. Turn right at the crossing after 500 m from the village Škrbina.
