Nest of Marops apiaster

Print Add to travel planner
Marops apiaster is a migratory bird, which flies from Africa around the 10th of May. Until the end of the month they dig nesting pits, which are up to 1,5 meters deep. In June, when observation becomes most interesting, is the time, when they feed their young ones. Their nests are usually empty in August, because the birds move on trees near Sotla, and at the end of the month they fly to the South.

Every visitor of this region can observe these birds from a special floor observatory. Access to it is marked and the location is equipped with explanation board.
