Leave the expressway at the Unec exit and drive through Rakek to Cerknica , then left to Begunje, and then left again through the village of Bezuljak to Dobec. Here you will see the picturesque fountain and chapel at the start of the Menišija Natural Science Trail. The Menišija trail and the Menišija Tourist Association are named after the “menihi” or monks from the Bistra Carthusian Monastery, which owned the land from 1260.
The Natural Science Trail is suitable for everyone, including families with small children, because it is only three kilometers long through gently hilly terrain. Among the nine points of interest marked by signposts, we particularly recommend the visit to the Gabrovška cave and drinking the healing water from the Brejnica spring, which supposedly whets the appetite. Walking through the vast Menišija forests and avenues of trees, the singing of the birds, and the thousands of stars in the night sky, however, are the most valuable attractions of all.
