The greater pasque flower (Pulsatilla grandis) with silk velvet stalks and a purple flower attracts every visitor. Due to that it is strongly under threat of extinction. 
 
It blooms in February, March or April - depending on the weather. It multiplies vegetatively and with seeds. It is endangered and, therefore, protected. 
The greater pasque flower is light purple with more than five flower petals, many stamina and pistils. The flower petals protect the flower before it blooms. The stalk is from 5 to 30 cm high. The whole plant is grown with silk hairs which protect it from the cold.

That natural habitat is one of only a few where the greater pasque flower still grows in Europe.

This area is in Boletina, 1 km from the church of St. Martina at Ponikva, along the road in the direction towards Šentvid, past the natural village cleaning device.
