An oral tradition says that the name of the village comes from the phrase “kosa velja”, which means that the scythe is sharp enough. In the centre of the village stands a village well from 1898. Next to it are the hundred-years-old vine and trough to water cattle. On the Kržada stands a memorial from the WWII. In the vicinity is the kal Lokva that was once used for watering but later on the village teenagers used it for swimming. On the path to Kosovelje, in Metna Mlaka, are the remains of the military chapel from WWI, which was used for healing the wounded of Isonzo front. There are also the visible remains of the railway that was used for the needs of the army. Through the village leads Pliska trail.
