The village presumably gained its name after the now extinct family Kodre
that settled this area a few hundred years ago. Kodreti is the centre of the
Upper Branica and comprises also the hamlet of Kovači by the road Kobdilj
– Vipava. The village is situated between the hills Lukovnik and Gradišče,
in the river Branica valley that separates the Vipavska valley, Karst and the
ridge of Vrha (Švica). A parish church of St Katarina with three altars and
interesting wall paintings is a common church for all villages of the Upper
Branica (Koboli, Večkoti, Čehovini, Dolanci, Kodreti and Trebižani).
Automobiles : From the regional Kobdilj-
Vipava road behind the
village of Čehovini a local
road branches off to
Kodreti and continues to
Spodnja Branica and
Branik.
