Address: Kamniška Bistrica, od Kamnika do Doma v Kamniški Bistrici, 1242 Stahovica
Koželj's Trail is named by Kamnik mountaineer and painter, Maks Koželj. It is 8 km long, but we recomend uper part, starting at Iverje.
Trail goes along river Kamniška Bistrica and ends at the mountain hut Dom v Kamniški Bistrici by the spring of the river. There are many interesting things to be seen if one is ready to look, such as a natural bridge, a waterfall coming down the Oligocene stone, glacial marines and boulders, etc. At some points, the footpath offers beautiful views of the highest peaks in Kamnik Alps.
The first part of the trail leads you along the cart track that starts to ascend and move away from the river. Then the trail narrows and gradualy comes closer to the river. Continue past the bridge beneath the lower cable car station to Velika planina, where you cross the gravel road and continue to the gorges of Veliki and Mali Predaselj. Here the river makes the deepest (30m) cut into its bed. Continue past the bridge, where the view of the gorges opens and soon you can see the meadow, where the picnic center is located. Continue towards Plečnik Hunting Lodge and further on to the Memorial Park or cross the bridge and continue along the river to the spring of Kamniška Bistrica and to the mountain lodge.
