Sveti Peter, Tonina House (Tonina hiša)
Sv. Peter 90 6333 Sečovlje
Sveti Peter, known under the name of Raven after World War III, is a clustered village on the southwest hillsides of the hills of Šavrinsko Gričevje. In part of the village, in the settlement of Goreli, stands the homestead Sveti Peter 36 or Tonina house among the other stone houses and the pool. According to tradition, it was owned by a wealthy farming family. The whole settlement was named after its last owner, Antonija Gorela.
The longitudinal building, constructed mainly in the 18th and 19th centuries, is a type in between a one-storey and two-storey building. The fireplace extension by the southeast façade and the hall with its exterior staircase by the narrower entrance side protrude from the bulk of the house. The homestead is covered with a shallow pointed roof with open roofing. The stonecutting details, especially the borders of the small windows, are standard.
On the low upper floor there is an apartment with two areas: a kitchen and a room. In the corner by the door is an open fireplace with a hood. The ethnological collection on the upper floor with tools, household furnishings and their accessories reveals their way of life up until the middle of the 20th century. On the ground floor there is a special entrance for the oil mill or torklja. The stone grooves, the wooden press and other tools in the oil mill have remained as if the workers left the place only yesterday.
Another attraction worth visiting in the village is the Church of St. Peter, with the remains of the Renaissance altar built in the wall of the nave.
