In the central part of the Poljanska Valley, which was once part of the Loka dominion, there are many places linked by a common history; today they are united in the Municipality of Gorenja vas-Poljane.
Many artists drew inspiration here and introduced the beauties of this picturesque valley to the world, among them the author Ivan Tavčar with his pen and the Šubic family and Anton Ažbe with their pallets full of colours.
Of course, we should also mention Vlastja Simončič, one of the pioneers of photography, who opened Slovenia’s first photography museum in Gorenja vas.
Walking in the unspoiled nature and visiting tourist farms can be a unique experience.
